SPIKE | 115 | OPEN-MINDED | BAD | SLAYER OF SLAYERS | JAMES MARSTERS
you grew wings on your heart, but
YOU LET IT OUT YOUR RIBCAGE AND IT FLEW INTO THE DARK
- Vampire Strengths - Spike possesses all the usual vampire strengths - such as heightened strength, speed, awareness, stamina, quickened responses, and the ability to take any hit thrown other than a stake through the heart or a hacked off head.
- Vampire Healing - Luckily for Spike, seeing as he gets into far too many fights to be healthy, vampire's heal incredibly quickly when they have a steady supply of human blood. Something he's never had cause to go hungry for.
- Skilled Fighter -Spike is not an old vampire, and yet is much more skilled than most - he's fought against two Slayer's in his lifetime and killed them both. Not only does he had a large knowledge of difference fighting techniques, taught by vampire's such as Angelus, and other demon's he's seen through the years, but he also has an uncanny sense of finding other's weaknesses and exploiting them. Like in the cases of the Slayers - he located their weakness of wanting to die. And so exploited it.
- Skills of Insight and Analysis - It's not magical, because Spike doesn't much like magic, but he is a vampire who can see the true meaning and intentions behind other's words and actions. This seems to be particularily in the case of relationships - any except his own.
- Witty - This is a vampire who always has a comeback on the tip of his tongue, ready to use if it's needed and even if it's not. His words are cutting and sharp, and more often than not have been the cause of him suddenly waking up in chains. But they put other's in awkward positions, and also serve as a very handy distraction tool.
- Underestimated - He does hate this, but despite being near unbeatable in fighting ability, due to his size and mannerism, Spike isn't really estimated as being anything more than a toy by older, more experienced vampires. Which he does use to his advantage, despite it being irritating, by taking them by suprise.
- Multi-Lingual - Not only is Spike well versed in a variety of human languages (after a hundred years of travelling, in a family that loves to uphold it's pride, learning languages was one of many lessons he was taught), including ancient ones such as latin and greek, Spike can also speak a multitude of demon languages, including Fyral.
- Gentlemen - It may not look it, due to his chosen attire, and it may not seem it, due to his usual blunt manner and the adopted common accent, but Spike's roots are in middle class Victorian England, and the lessons that Gentlemen learnt in that time have never really died. He can be incredibly sweet and charming and polite, if the occasion calls for it.
- Modern - He may never have left the Punk Scene from when he adopted it in the 70s, but Spike is not a vampire to get behind on new technology. He likes the modern, cushy life that he can have now. And running water. After spending who knows how many years being the one boiling water for baths for everyone else, indoor plumbing is a wonder.
- Able to Love - Spike is an...anomaly in the terms of vampire's. Perhaps it due to being sired by Drusilla, who's not exactly sane or all there, but Spike has never lost most of his human emotions, even after spending so long around the other three members of the fanged four. He can actually care for others, and does so - he loves Drusilla more than anything. This is the main backing behind his skills of insight - he can see who human's love, and understand it, because he knows how it feels.
WEAKNESSES
- Vampire Weaknesses - Just like with vampire strengths, Spike suffers from the usual Vampire Weaknesses. Holy objects, sunlight and stakes through the heart. Although, it can't be said that he lets them get in the way of his un-life that much - he treats them as a hinderance more often than not - walking around in the sun with his coat over his head, or driving in a car with blacked out windows. Proper vampire's wouldn't be seen dead (or would be, that's the problem) doing those sorts of things...but Spike's a rebel.
- Love's Bitch - Though also a strengh, Spike's ability to care and love is also a weakness. He feels everything much more than a souless demon should, and those feelings have, and continue to be, a weapon to be used against him by other vampires (such as Angelus, when Drusilla is concerned). He can also become blinded by love, and manipulated by it as well. He cares, which is the problem - for most of the people/vampires in his life. But he gets blinded by it, and confused, and his feeling's aren't exactly ones he's able to keep quiet about. So other's know, quite clearly.
- Young - He is the youngest of the four vampires, and despite being a Master vampire himself is still confined to following their (Angelus, Darla, and Drusilla's) instructions if they are given to him, under vampire Lore. He doesn't perhaps follow their instructions well, because it's fun not to, and even after a hundred years he's never been fully controlled, but it's fun for them to try.
- Impatient - Do not ask Spike to make a Plan. Ever. Not only will he think of it with a capital 'P', but no matter how good it sounds (and his ideas can be good, extremely good), he will get bored and mess it up through his own impatience. He doesn't like waiting, and loves to just be able to take.
- Stubborn - This called also be called 'Slow at learning'. Spike is not slow, in fact he's remarkably intelligent, but he hates being subjected to new lessons. Even as a human he got through a remarkable amount of tutors, and if he doesn't want to learn something new, it's incredibly hard to make him.

two steps forward; one step back
MAKE UP IN LOVE WHAT YOU THINK I LACK
Spike has often been described by Drusilla as being a 'Blue-Eyed Dolly'. And, despite how much he doesn't like it, the description does do him justice. He's rather small and slender in stature, pratically delicate compared to the large size and muscle of Angelus. Some even go as far to call him feminine, with oddly womanly lips and large blue eyes, and cheekbones that appear sharp enough to cut through the air. The first thing you generally notice about Spike is that he looks more like a toy than a big bad vampire - just like a doll. Even his demon side appears oddly human like - with the ridges less obvious than in other demons. It can be plainly said - Spike is one pretty little vampire.
But if you look past the prettiness, which, annoyingly, some do not, you would notice the coiled muscle which makes up his compact body - strong and firm, that of a fighter. His skin, though initially appearing flawless, is marred by one scar through his left eyebrow - something rare in a vampire, and only being shown after an encounter with a worthwhile enemy - in Spike's case, his fight with the Chinese Slayer. He skin doesn't show scars courtesy of torture though, even though he lives with Angelus, mainly because he keeps going through it, and has never broken. People don't seem to notice that part of his appearence which ties in with his strong nature.
Clothing wise, Spike is also an anomaly. Most vampire's enjoy looking neat, but dangerous. Wearing good, expensive clothing, in dark colours. Well, Spike likes the dark colours, but his outfit's comprise of black, tight shirts, with coloured silk shirts on top (mainly red and black) and tight jeans, with an old belt (that he enjoys customising). And on his feet, he wears a trusty pair of black doc martins. The only part of his outfit's which mean anything is the black leather duster - and even that wasn't expensive. It's like the scar - a symbol of the second Slayer he's killed. But Spike's also unsual in that he dies his hair and wears makeup - he latched onto the rebellious punk scene and never really let go - wearing black eye liner to make his blue eyes stand out even more and bleaching his naturally honey brown hair into platinum blonde, either wearing it slicked back or spiked up. He is the image of a bad boy, complete with zippo lighter and cigarettes, and loves the attention it gets him.
PERSONALITY
Personality wise, Spike isn’t like other vampires. His behaviours and manners frequently challenge the expectations both humans and slayers have of vampires, as well as other vampire limitations. He is a souless creature, but can still love. In fact, even compared to humans who have souls, Spike is unusually loving and romantic, especially towards his mate, Drusilla...despite being well aware of the ties between her and Angelus. He's loyal, and has never really played around (unless it's within the family, you could say), and neither has he really looked for anyone outside of their little group. He is rather emotional for a vampire, especially in the 'love' sense, and understands it far better than almost anyone else. But only in the sense of others - in his case, he just knows he loves Drusilla more than anything, but cares for Angelus and Darla as well (Angelus more than Darla, seeing as he was the one who trained the young William), but he doesn't really understand those feelings. He likes the sense of being a family though - Spike's not a solitary creature. He hates being cut out from the others, or being left on his own. He likes having company.
He’s never quite lost any of his human traits, including his love of food and poetry. He never shows that poetry to anyone anymore, but he still writes it. Of course, he enjoys the fighting and the feeding, and loves making other’s feel terror, but he’s never really been a vampire for torture. He’s imaginative in coming up with ways to kill people, yes, but unlike Angelus, he’d never sit down for hours with one victim and make them scream. He prefers fights, to torture; he likes a challenge rather than picking on helpless victims. That’s a reason why he does not fear Slayers, like other vampires. In fact, he has readily seeked them out, just to look for a challenging fight. To him, there is nothing better than a fight with the threat of death to both participants. He does have a murderous impulse, and in fact, a very poor impulse control in any sense.
Spike has a dry, sarcastic sense of humour, and is prone to insulting people and giving them nicknames as signs of both his hatred or his endearment towards them. He enjoys living by his own rules, and if someone tells him what to do, well...he’ll just do the opposite. Even if the order came from one of his family - Spike doesn't respect authority, so will only follow it through in the loosest sense, doing as little as he can get away with. He's a rebel at heart, with an 'I don't care' attitude towards life. He doesn't like older vampire's who're stuck in their ways, and has had several altercations with figures like Dracula in the past, occusing them of being stuck in their ways. He wants to move forward with the times, and is more modern than the rest of their little group (in the sense of technology anyway), and also make a name for himself. Which he has already done, in a way - not many other vampire's can claim to have slain a Slayer, especially not to. And, to Spike's knowledge, none of them has been as young as him.
LIKES
- Punk Music - He's still holding onto the Punk attitude, because it's him. He's a rebel, and especially likes playing his music like a teenager - loud enough to annoy all the others.
- Fighting - Spike's not a torturer - because he can't be bothered. He likes a fair, good fight, enjoys making them into deadly dances. He doesn't pick on the weak, or on children, because they're no fun. He likes food which can bite back.
- Pampering the Other's - It's odd, but he does. He likes going out and finding presents for Drusilla, or Darla, likes to indulge his Princess by painting her nails or doing her hair. He's grown quite skilled at numerous hair styles over the years, and always tries to make Dru look like the Princess he thinks she is.
- Human Food - Especially when using it to add texture to his blood. There's nothing better than fresh human blood, except fresh human blood and weetabix.
- The Telly - A wonderful human invention. He can often get too involved with the plots though...and more than once has been yelled at for shouting at the thing.
- Sex - He's a vampire. He likes sex. Unlike most other demons though, Spike likes being a lover. He indulges in other's whims, but can be prudish in his manner. He likes making it good for both parties. Even if it is food, the food dies happy.
- His 'Family' - It may seem like he doesn't, because out of the four of them Spike definately fits into the class of the rebellious child or teenager, but he does like being part of a group. He likes the idea that even if he does annoy the other's, they'll continue to bail him out of problems.
DISLIKES
- Dracula - The bastard owes him money. And he will get that back.
- America Beer - Spike's English, and like's the good stuff. The filtered, watered down rubbish the american's serve is just an insult.
- Drusilla Ignoring Him - He was made to be the prince to her princess. When she ignores him, he doesn't know what to do with himself.
- 'Pop' Music - A stake would be more preferrable...
- Being Made To Wait - He's a vampire! He should be able to do what he wants, when he wants, not have to wait for permission from his elders. Not betters.
- Being Overshadowed by Angelus and Darla - He wants to make a name for himself...yet is stuck in their shadow. Even after killing two Slayers, he's still playing nursemaid to Drusilla. Which...he's not complaining about, but still...
- Magic - He doesn't like it, doesn't trust it, and even fears in on occasions. Magic and sorcery just appears to be meddling with things that shouldn't be meddled with, and he doesn't like it. Through this it also means he doesn't like witches or warlocks, or mages or Watchers either.

you've got a vampire on your neck
EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Spike (or rather, William) was born in Victorian London. He was brought up in a well off family, and had the life of any other son of a rich woman. He was meek, and shy though, and rather insecure, and used to bury himself in his poetry. He gained the name William The Bloody from this time, despite so many beliefs that his name come from his later, more violent vampire years. His life was ordinary for that of a Victorian - he attended an all boys school, and went to university to train to be a barrister, like his father before him. But his life wasn't actually as ordinary as it appeared - He was in love with an aristocratic woman, called Cecily. But Cecily wasn't actually named Cecily, no - she was in fact the vengence demon Halfrek, on a job involving some other men in William's time line, he simply got in the line of William's affections...but who openly mocked his attempts at courting her, and laughed about him behind his back, and one other man called him that, because of his Bloody Awful Poetry. After being rejected by his love one particularily cruel time, William wandered the streets despondently and bumped into Drusilla, who was instantly fascinated by the blue eyed crying boy. She turned him there and then.
His life as a human didn’t really end there though. Unlike other newly risen vampires, after feeding for the first time, his thought wasn’t about killing his family. In fact, he turned his mother to save her, as she was suffering from a terminal disease. He rejected life as a vampire at first, preferring to join her. But Anne had changed during the turning. She, as a vampire, taunted William and insinuated he had always had a sexual fascination with her. William chose to stake her because he found he could not bear to see his mother behaving like the soulless vampire he had made of her. It was only after that, that he dedicated himself to the vampire lifestyle, and to Drusilla, who was thrilled by the return of her ‘blue eyed dolly’. He abandond his upper class accent, and well manoured behaviour, and became reckless, impulsive, and generally loving life like any other fledgling.
Despite being sired by Drusilla, it was Angelus who trained him, becoming a mentor to the younger vampire, and taught him to be a monster. Spike looked up to the older vampire, even telling other's that he was his sire rather than Drusilla...until Angelus purposefully had sex with his Dru in front of him. William never forgave the other vampire for that. It wasn't long after that when he changed his manner completely. He adopted the name Spike after killing the people who had mocked his poetry, years later, the way one of them had suggested. By sticking railway spikes through their heads. He was a rebellious childe from the start, too attached to his human emotions to appeal to either Darla or Angelus, who intitially did consider staking him, until his nature grew on them. Despite the fact that he was the reason the family was chased from so many dwellings.
Spike killed his first Slayer in China, in 1900, when, in vampire terms, he was only 20, and still technically considered a child. It was during the Boxter Rebellion, where, unlike other vampires who fled from the scene, Spike followed the Slayer into a temple, before proceding to fight against her. She was well trained and experienced, but he still beat her, after afterwards 'celebrated' with Dru on her blood. He made a name for himself in that instant by doing something at only twenty, that Angelus hadn't. He'd killed a Slayer.
After that, he remained with the family mainly, sticking together especially after the death of the Master. He enjoyed the feeling of importance, and especially liked rubbing the status of his family into the faces of older vampires, like Dracula. Unfortunately, the encounter with Dracula did end up with them being enemies, and with Spike just managing to avoid being captured by the Nazi's in Germany as part of an 'Experimentation scheme'.
He killed his second Slayer on a small break from the family, when they were staying in New York. Nikki Wood was her name, and the first thing he noticed about her was her coat. He proceded to follow her for a week, taking a leaf out of Angelus' book about stalking. But instead of attacking her directly, he amused himself by killing the vampires that surrounded her usual patrolling routes, watching her fight when he didn't get there in time to kill the demons first, and gradually learning her skill. His first meeting with her was in the rain, in a park, and they fought in front of her son. But, despite only just avoiding being staked, the fight was too short for his taste, so he left...and met up again with her later, this time on a tube train. Where he did kill her, snapping her neck, then stealing her coat. Before returning back to Dru, to enjoy the late night clubs as if nothing remarkable had happened.
He continued to stay with the family after that, never breaking off to be on his own - mainly because he didn't want to. Oh, he wants to make a name for himself yes...but he wants to be with others even more. Coming to the Hellmouth with the family was just something he did, because they remained together. And because he heard tale of another Slayer being there, of course.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Spike is one of the big bads in this series, I'm guessing - the youngest of the four vampire's moving to the Hellmouth. He won't do much though, especially not if Angelus already has staked his claim on the Slayer - he's not an idiot. But he wants to make a name for himself...and that could be done in quite a few ways. Which will probably come up later.

Four Years| None | Vampire
“Now, really, you’re just asking for this,” the voice was pleasant enough – smooth baritones of an English accent in a soft tone, especially…nice…in the otherwise silence of the night. But it still didn’t stop the young girl whimpering in fear. Oh fear. Yes, Spike was a controversial vampire, but that was something he could never get enough of. Fear did make the blood taste so sweet, almost as good as arousal did. Not as good as Slayer though, or Sire, but he wasn’t picky right now.
And the girl had a right to be afraid, he supposed. He had just messily killed her lover who had, to his delight, tried to put up a fight. And yet the girl hadn’t run when he’d drained him…Which was just pathetic. “You needa man up! C’mon! Well, I mean, you needed to, can’t now. It’s a bit late for you. Would say remember for next time, but I doubt there’s gonna be one of them either.”
He grinned slowly, the naturally pretty planes of his face contorting into the ridges and fangs of his demon, and the girl screamed once more before he sank said fangs into her neck, revelling at the flesh which parted so easily beneath them. He was dissapointed though – at least her lover had shown some spark. This one didn’t even fight. Just…went limp.
Was it too much to ask to have a decent fight one of these days? Humans...no, they were just no fun, no fun at all. Of course, they were good fun to make them feel fear, and the freak them out, and to eat them, of course. But they could never just understand fun. Sweet soddin’ burning god, they really didn’t. It was...irritating, really. Oh, of course, he could always toddle off back to the others, and inquire politely as to whether Angelus would fancy a small tussle or something. But that wasn’t the same. What Spike wanted, right now, was a proper fight. The thing was, after facing two expert fighters in the form of Slayers…it was hard to find anything as interesting to fill his time.
He sighed, staring down at the limp form of the girl in his arms, at the neck he had just lifted his face from. Stupid humans as well, here. Well, they were all stupid, but this one was just pathetically so. Surely, even now, human’s should gather that there were big bads sneaking up around them at night. Well, sneaking if you were Angelus, perhaps. Spike enjoyed the whole simple ‘punching them right in the face’ thing more than the sneaking. But come on, these human’s really were thick! Wandering around at night? Especially not sneaking out at night to convort with secret lovers in the night. In a graveyard. God, he knew humans were dumb, but this lot just took the biscuit.
Perhaps he should go get Dru. They could spend a while dancing around the tombstones here, laughing and then playing in the blood the young lover’s had left behind. Dru liked things like that, she did, and Spike’s existance was to give her things she liked. Well, that was how he liked to think of it anyway. But Dru was in one of her I’m only going to talk to my dolly’s mood.
“Damn Miss Edith,” he grumbled, kicking the side of the tomb with the heel of his scuffed doc martins, scuffing them even more, but he didn’t care. They were tough boots, them. “Shoulda smashed that bloody doll years ago.”
Except he wouldn’t have smashed the doll, because then Dru would have cried and screamed – as she had that time Angelus had tried to. And Dru’s fits weren’t something he was in the mood to deal with. It wasn’t amusing when he was having to fight against his princess. But he could still get her, perhaps, just for something to do…
But it wasn’t a hunt, or a fight. So he grumbled to himself letting his face shift back out of the demon planes before knocking the drained body un-elegantly over the side of the crypt he was currently perched on the top of, making it fall to the grassy ground with a soft thud. And then reached into his duster, pulling out a cigarette and lighting up, lying back down against the cold slab of stone, out of sight from the ground. And blinked up at the stars. Dru had named the stars, all the same name, according to her. Who was he to argue with that?
