VAYDA MARIE SCHMIDTZ
Vayda Schmitz | 21 | Heterosexual | Werewolf | University Student/Teacher Assistant at Sunnydale High School | Lucy Hale
There's nothin' wrong with lovin' who you are
CAUSE HE MADE YOU PERFECT, BABE.
--Intelligence: Vayda is extremely smart for her age. She graduated high school at the top of her class with a GPA of 3.98. She would always take the more advanced classes just because they were a challenge, and she enjoyed learning. Now, in her 3rd year at UC Sunnydale, she is still trudging along with excellent grades.
--Determination: Vayda always pushes to better herself with everything she does. Her biggest goal is to succeed, and she has yet to give that up.
--Friendly: Vayda is always looking to meet new people. She is quite the social bird, and she doesn't hesitate when she has the opportunity to make new friends.
--Teaching: Vayda has always been good with words, especially when trying to teach someone else something. In high school she was a science and english tutor. Now, for the new school year at Sunnydale High, Vayda is a teaching assistant for multiple English classes. She is hoping this experience will help her with her teaching degree.
--Clothing: Vayda has a very unique style, that brings out her personality. She knows how to take a plain boring outfit and create something new with it going wild.
--Good Looks: Vayda is very pretty. With her long dark waves of hair and her big brown eyes, its hard for anyone not to look her way. Although she is very modest, she does use her looks to get what she wants at times.
--Cardio and Muscle Tone: Vayda is a runner. In high school, she was on the track team for all four years. She can run for a long period of time without stopping which is why she is alive right now. She outran the werewolf that attacked her. She also paid for a yoga class two years ago, and is now doing a session by herself once a day.
--A lover: Vayda is definitely a good lover. She has been in a few romances in her life, but nothing real enough to mention. Most of them just wanted to get in her pants. Some of them lasted a few months, but nothing serious. Even with all of these relationships, she still knew how to treat each and every one of them. She is very compassionate, romantic, sweet, and loving. When she is in a relationship, she tries her hardest to make it work which has failed before, but those relationships have always ended with mutual understanding for the situation.
WEAKNESSES
--Werewolf Abilites: Vayda has yet to transform into her wolf self. It hasn't been a full moon yet, and she has no clue what is coming. Although these abilities can be very useful in Sunnydale with all of the evil, she is still not prepared for this new change in her life, therefore it is a weakness.
--Trust: Vayda puts her trust in people to easily. She has been hurt multiple times because of it, but she still hasn't learned.
--The Doormat: Unfortunately, Vayda has always been the "go to girl" for everything. And because of this, she has been walked all over way to many times. She is always taken advantage of.
--The Disorder: Although Vayda tries to be as positive as possible, she is very often plagued with unhappy and depressing thoughts. She suffers from Bipolar Disorder which she has to take medication to keep stabilized.
--Oblivious: Vayda is very oblivious to everything really. She has no clue of the horrors in Sunnydale, even though she was attacked by a werewolf. She assumed it was a...very large dog. Same with relationships. She usually is surprised when she finds out a guy is interested in her because she couldn't read the signs.
--Finances: Because she is on her own, Vayda can barely afford her living expenses. She needs another job. She isn't making much from the teacher's assistant job at the school because it is more of a work study.

Vayda was born April 3rd, 1976 to Shelly and Martin Schmitz in Clarence, CA. Her first word was "da da" which wasn't surprising. Shelly was employed at an automotive plant working midnights and overtime every chance she got. When she was home, she would sleep spending little time with Vayda. Martin was the one who did all the household work including taking care of baby Vayda as well as cooking and cleaning. He was an illustrator who wasn't exactly making much money off of his work. So, he tried to do as much a he could for Shelly and their family. But no matter what he did, Shelly would always come home in a hateful mood trying to pick fights with Martin. It wasn't just the fact that she felt she was doing everything, but the fact that she had severe bipolar disorder.
Shelly's disorder was a burden on everyone, and as Vayda grew up, she could see this clearly. Shelly would always try to pick fights with everyone. She would verbally abuse Vayda and Martin, but not even realize she was doing it. Ontop of her spouts of mania, she would also have depression spells which would bring everyone down.
The mania spell that Vayda remembers above all of them was when Vayda was 13. It was a Saturday afternoon and Martin had left that morning for an illustrator's convention a few towns away leaving just Shelly and Vayda. Shelly started out by complaining about the fact that she had to do everything. She was doing the dishes at that point because Martin stepped out for the day. She then started complaining about the fact that Vayda didn't do any of her chores. Vayda argued with her mother that she had been busy lately because she was swamped with homework. Normally if she said this to Martin, he understood. Vayda always maintained good grades which both of her parents were very pleased with, but Shelly believed it was just an excuse. She began cursing at Vayda calling her horrendous names and making her feel the lowest of all low. Vayda couldn't take it anymore. When Shelly stopped yelling for a few seconds, Vayda mentioned that Shelly was ruining the family. This angered Shelly even more. Being controlled by her manic spell, she reached for the knife on the drain board and pointed it at Vayda threatening her. This had never happened before and Vayda was extremely scared. She didn't know what to do. She was only 13 and her mother had pulled a knife on her. Finally realizing what she was doing, Shelly told Vayda to leave the house quickly and go to the neighbors for a few hours obviously afraid that she would actually harm her one and only daughter. With tears streaming down her face, Vayda ran.
Vayda went to a close neighbor's house where she stayed there the rest of the day balling her eyes out not wanting to tell anyone what had happened. She didn't want to be responsible for her mother being sent away. And that is exactly what would happen if Vayda told someone. As much as she was angry with her mother, Vayda still loved her very much.
Finally, later that night the neighbor got a call from Martin asking if Vayda could stay there for a few days. The neighbor agreed. Martin brought Vayda's clothes over that night, and Vayda asked why she couldn't come home. Martin told her that there was some things he needed to take care of with Shelly.
Vayda didn't know until a few days later that the fight between her and her mother was actually the last time she would see her mother for a very long time. When Vayda came home, Martin explained to her that Shelly had admitted herself into the psychiatric hospital to get help. Vayda blamed herself for the longest time, but as she grew older, she appreciated her mother's decision.
With Shelly gone, the financial status of the small family would have suffered. But at the illustrator's convention Martin had gone to, he met quite a few people interested in his work. A group of writer's were creating a graphic memoir that they needed an illustrator for. Martin got the job. It wasn't a ton of money, but it was enough to support him and Vayda.
Although Vayda had seen an awful side of Shelly, she still never gave up on her mother. Martin and Vayda would visit Shelly in the hospital as much as they could.
It wasn't until Vayda turned 17, that she hated her mother. Even though Vayda was a cheerful young woman, she would have constant crying spells and panic attacks. Because of this, Martin took her to a psyciatrist who diagnosed Vayda with the early stages of bipolar disorder. Vayda was devistated. The worst thing that could have happened to her, had happend. She wanted more than anything to be nothing like her mother, and now was.
That night, after the diagnosis, Vayda laid in her bed crying and crying in fear of becoming something vicious. Martin came in to her room and spoke to her. He explained to her that the disorder did not dictate who she would become as a person. He told her how proud he was of her and what a wonderful woman she was going to become.
After their talk, Vayda decided that she wasn't going to let her bipolar disorder destroy her life. She was going to be successful and a postive person to be around. Even with her depression, she could still push herself to be a better person. To begin this adventure though, she had to chose a path. Because she enjoyed tutoring English and Science at her high school, she decided that teaching English at a college level would be the best career choice for her.
With her outstanding grades and SAT scores, she was accepted to the top schools in the country. But none of them she could afford. After much research, she found that UC Sunnydale had a great English program and it was cheap. Plus, the fact that it was only an hour and a half away from her dad and her mom's hospital, was a bonus. She took out numerous loans to help her pay for her college expenses.
So she set off for UC Sunnydale where she lived in the dorms for her first 2 years making sure to visit her mother and father every other weekend. She did much tutoring in writing and literature in these first couple of years which benefited her greatly. The school offered to pay her if she would be a Teacher's Assistant at Sunnydale High for her 3rd year at the university. She agreed, and moved out of the dorms and into her own apartment.
She went through a teacher training session during the summer to prepare her for her work at the school. She was paid for this as well. Realizing that this wasn't enough income, she is in the process of looking for a new job. The Bronze is defintely one of her choices. Bartending would be different, yet a ton of fun.
Her mother is getting out of the hospital in a month which Vayda is very excited about. She will be living with Martin again, and Vayda will be able to see her outside of the hospital. As far as Vayda's bipolar disorder, it is almost as if she doesn't even have it. She has occasional spouts of depression once in awhile, but the medicine she takes helps her greatly.
The school year has begun, and her first week as an assistant teacher went well however, her classes at the university seem to be quite challenging. But that is nothing compared to what is to come for Vayda. A few days ago, Vayda was walking home from her 6 o'clock British Literature class when she was attacked by a large gray dog. She was bitten on her right forearm. She managed to run away from the beast, but her arm swelled up like a balloon. She went to the Sunnydale Hospital right away. They cleaned the wound and gave her medicine for the pain. Little does Vayda know, her world is about to change. The beast that attacked her was actually a werewolf.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT Vayda is a new werewolf that hasn't transformed at all yet, so she has no clue about the changes that are occuring within her body yet. As the full moon approaches, she will start feeling the wolf inside of her but not understand her feelings at all. After her first transformation, she still isn't sure what is going on. She will wake up naked in random places. I want Vayda to seek help from doctors, but they to are confused. While all of this is going on, she is working as a Teacher's Assistant at Sunnydale High in the English Department as a work study that she gets paid for but minimally as well as going to UC Sunnydale as a student. Because she is a member of UC Sunnydale and the High School, she can meet many of the other characters either as students or classmates. Also she is looking for another job, and i want her to apply at The Bronze as a bartender to bring in more money to help with her living expenses.
