Ugh! Cordelia grimaced as she eyed a particularly disgusting boy who had just succeeded in spilling food down his top. Seriously it was like some people were born without the basic elements of class that separated humans from animals. The next time she saw her daddy she was so going to get him to remind her why he hadn’t used some of his hard earned cash to send her to a private school. Where the people were refined, elegant and had that little thing called class, or if they didn’t have any of the above at least had the decency to shower daily. She wrinkled her nose at the very thought of allowing herself to remain dirty like that. She loved Sunnydale high she really did who wouldn’t love a place where they got to rule over the rabble with the power that was rightfully theirs? But some of the people in it, well they were just so... common.
She pushed the plate containing a salad and bottled water in front of her to the edge of the table. Her expression still one of disgust as her full attention turned back to the rest of the Cordette’s who were eying each other with similar expressions on their face. “I’ve all of a sudden lost my appetite. Let us go before my stomach turns even more.” Her words were soft spoken containing a hint of disgust and that slight tinge to it that alerted anyone who knew her, or high school queens in general for that matter that they were an order that she expected to be followed. She smiled contently as she watched the other girls even those who still wanted to eat pushing their plates away from them in the same manner Cordelia had moments before. Well at least these girls knew how to act around their betters and were smart enough to realize that by following her lead they too would show class and etiquette.
She walked through the cafeteria her head held high, shoulders back as she barely looked at those sitting trying to avoid witnessing something that would offend her sensibilities even more. As she passed the table of the boy who had earned her ire moments before she couldn’t help herself and turned to face him the other girls stood behind her grinning in anticipation “Listen pig. I don’t know what type of backward class free pig sty you crawled your way out of us. But the rest of us...” At this point she looked around the room clearly referring to the room as a whole “Have some manners and don’t wish to have our stomach turned in the middle of the day. Now if eating like a decent human being is difficult for you I’m sure I can get my daddy to give you the number of a tutor for these types of things.” Before the red faced jock could come up with a retort she turned away from him her hair bouncing in her wake.
She smirked at the sound of over half the cafeteria laughing at the boy’s misfortunate. She quickly walked out of the cafeteria heading in the direction of the Quad hoping that there at least she might be able to relax without worrying about being revolted. After several moments she arrived placing herself and some of the girls with her at a table of prominence while dismissing those who there wasn’t room for. She turned to one of the girls grinning “Did you see that outfit Bridget was wearing? Talk about last season.”

He didn't want to be here. High school in general was his past time, yet it had apparently become his present time, as well. It was humiliating enough just walking through these halls, knowing he shouldn't be here. He should be off in Miami, studying to become a doctor, or at least something decent. Instead, he was in Sunnydale, studying a course of much lesser importance, which would just become more of a waste of his precious time. He should be off doing something with himself, but apparently that was just too much to ask, it seemed. He was back at High School, luckily not full-time. How would he explain this to potential friends? He had a reputation, yet apparently his chances of having that would be uneasy to say the least. This was...Sunnydale. How could he not have a good reputation here? He could smoke dope and he'd still have a reputation here. But he wouldn't be doing that, of course.
Walking down the halls in his dark shade of denim jeans and white shirt, he smirked softly as he noticed people were glancing at him. Okay, so this wasn't going as terrible as he had presumed. He nodded to one of the girls who smirked towards him, before continuing on down the hall. He was now at the lockers, and as he found his locker, he looked on in a daunting horror at how bad they were. The university was bad...But this, this was just purely disgraceful. How did people put up with this kind of low-rent facilities? If he had any other options, which he didn't, he wouldn't even consider this school as a possibility. This was like a torture of some sort. Stuck somewhere he really didn't want to be, in a town he really didn't want to be in. He hated this.
Opening his locker, he neatly placed his books and bag inside. The good thing about only having to do one subject, was that he didn't require many books, therefore had a light bag. Oh, and the fact that he didn't have to be inside this school for a strenuous duration of time. Just as he closed his locker, he was approached by a group of guys. He glanced up at them, as one of them placed a hand on his shoulder. Was this going to be some kind of 'Sunnydale' welcome, or something? One of the boys smiled, before putting his hand out. "Hey there. Your the new guy, huh? Thats cool. I'm Greg. We're holding football auditions in the gym at the end of the day if your interested? One of our mains dropped out just before school started, put us under a bit." Zane glanced at the man, as if considering the option. He did need friends, and football was the popular sport, and he had experience with it during his school, despite being more of a 'baseballer'. He smiled softly, locking his locker and slipping his bag over his back. "Zane. Nice to meet you. Sure, I'll be there later on. Guess I've got to find something fun to do at this place."
After brief exchanges of names and information about the tryouts later on today, the boys walked off, leaving Zane with a slight smile on his face. Now this was his style, having some recognition around here. It was just the good start he needed. He begun walking down the hall, noticing that this conversation had been noticed by some of his peers. It felt weird referring to them as his 'peers' considering he shouldn't even be here. He had done his time in school, he shouldn't be here.
Walking on, he found himself in the quad. There were many tables located around the oddly shaped courtyard. He sighed, before finding himself a table which was vacated. It seemed everyone was in their groups. Goths...Plastics...Jocks...Nerds...Musicians...And then there was Zane. He placed his bag onto the table, and withdrew a sketchbook and pencil, beginning to draw onto the paper, which soon resembled a building he recalled in Miami. He always had good memories there...And now he was stuck here, with no beautiful buildings to name, or draw even.

Cordelia sat giggling with the girls as they continued to recount some of the disastrous outfits worn by their classmates throughout the week. Seriously it was as though people still didn’t grasp the importance of displaying taste when it came to presenting themselves. Freshman’s she could understand they were all so young and naive, but sophomores? Come on! You had to be brain dead or something not to realise no one how popular you might think you are. You’ll never be able to get away with such idiocy without finding yourself the subject of ridicule and the butt of the Cordette’s jokes for at least a semester. Unless of course you were lucky and an even worse fashion disaster came sooner that was...
It was just as Cordelia and her clique were finishing off this round of their weekly, hell let’s be honest daily bitch session that she happened to notice an unfamiliar face enter the courtyard. She started to look him up and down not with the usual expression of disgust, but with a small smirk on her face. He was a cutie so that was one test passed. She nodded slightly as she continued to appraise him trying to determine whether or not he was worthy of being approached. The clothes he was wearing were certainly acceptable she particularly liked the shirt, it looked like brand wear. Then again she didn’t typically hold men to the same standards she held those of the fairer sex. Most men after all just weren’t possessed with that natural grace and beauty girls like herself were granted at birth.
Having decided she would go over to him she excused herself and started walking in the direction of the guy that had caught her attention. As she got nearer to him she noticed that he appeared to be older than the rest of her classmates, which made her assume he was senior who had just transferred here. What was with that? Not only that, but he appeared to be the artistic type if the drawing he appeared to be slaving over was anything to go by. She just hoped his artistic nature didn’t branch out to his method of courting girls who caught his eyes as she undoubtedly would. She had enough of that type... Still she would give him a chance before making her final subject. He had after all passed her initial tests.
“Hi I’m Cordelia Chase.” Her words were accompanied by a small grin which only helped to emphasis the beauty queens good looks. It was one of several features Cordy has always been proud of. “Welcome to Sunnydale High. Since I’ve never seen you about before! I take it you are new to town?” Her words were spoken in a questioning tone her expression cool and confident. She had always been taught to approach others with confidence and fear never showing how you felt to the outside world, even if all she wanted to do was crawl away somewhere and cry. She noted from the corner of her eyes the girls watching them and giggling to themselves. Obviously they too were planning on judging this guy based on how this encounter went.
“So what do you do for fun where you’re from?” Her words were spoken quickly with a slight girly giggle to them as she watched him wondering how he’d react. She just hoped she hadn’t landed herself with one of those rare geeks blessed with good looks. If he started talking about comics she was so out of here...

Was today his day, or something? It was only a couple of minutes after he had sat down at the empty table and begun drawing one of his favourite buildings in Miami, that a girl had approached him and initiated conversation. A gorgeous girl, as well. If he knew anything about gorgeous girls, they were popular girls, therefore he could see some benefit in being her friend. She was well dressed, and had obvious taste in top brand names, showing that she had a considerable amount of money to her name. They did have that in common, sort of. Her fortune might be one of those never ending money trees, however his fortune, was bound to end eventually if he didn't find himself a decent job soon. Ah, a job. He was too young for work, he should be living off of his family's fortune, and enjoying life. Not having to work, jeez.
He stopped sketching, glancing up at the beautiful girl with a friendly smile, followed by a nod as a way of saying 'hello.' Cordelia Chase? He liked her already. He liked people who felt pride in themselves and stated their full name. It proved to him that she wasn't just some run of the mill girl who wasn't worth his time. "Zane Edwards," he replied back, the friendly smile and gaze still present on his expression. He smirked softly at her comment. "Was it that obvious I'm not from around here?" Of course it was. He didn't look like a 'Sunnydaler' or whatever they are referred to as. He was a purebred Miamian, and he had pride in being one. She must have noticed he was too good for this town already, or something. Maybe she felt the same way, too? She definantly seemed like she was also too good for this town, judging by appearences. "Thanks for the welcome," he added, reverting back to his friendly, yet charming smile. "Yes, I have the unfortunacey of finding myself residing in this town." He smirked once again. At least school was going okay for him so far. He just hoped the work was a breeze.
She seemed interested in asking questions too, which was good. At least he knew he was approachable, by the cool-looking people of course, which was always a good thing. He hadn't lost his charm, it appeared. "Well, I came from Miami, so I usually enjoy hanging out at the beach with friends. After all, we've got some great beaches there. I like parties too and a lot of other great stuff which just doesn't seem to live up to the hype of the amazing things to do in Sunnydale," he stated with sarchasm towards the end. He had been here a week, and he still hadn't found anything moderately exciting to do. Where were the great beaches, nice hot spots to hang out with friends?
He decided to shy away from questions about him, which were probably just as, if not more exciting than her experiences in Sunnydale, and talk directly about her instead. "So, anything exciting here in Sunnydale? Haven't had any luck so far in finding anything. And although I enjoy sketching, its not what I see myself doing every minute of my time spent in Sunnydale." He smiled softly. There had to be some mildly exciting things to do here, there just had to be.

She grinned as she noticed the new boy ceased working on the sketch that he had been drawing when she arrived. That was good at least she now knew that he had manners and wasn’t going to attempt to brush her off like some newbies had been known to do. Of course they all learnt in the end what a mistake it was to make an enemy of Cordelia Chase so early into their Sunnydale High career. She made sure of it. When he responded to her introduction with one of his own she smiled softly as she looked him up and down one more. He was definitely one of the nicer looking guys she had dealt with recently. “Nice to meet you Zane.” She smirked when he asked about what had made her realise he was new around here and decided she’d inform him a little bit of how things worked around here. “Oh it was simple really. I know all of the important people around here and they know me. Since you strike me as somebody important and worth knowing and I didn’t… Then you could only be new around here.” Her words were spoken softly as she flirted slightly when talking about how he seemed like someone worth knowing.
She grinned when he thanked her for the welcome. Handsome, charming and mannerly this Zane guy seemed to be passing more and more of her tests by the minute. Good for him… it was nice to meet a guy that didn’t fit in with the drudgery that Sunnydale High tended to be home to. When he next spoke she nodded her expression sympathetic. “I can imagine that Sunnydale must seem lacking to an outsider.” Her words were spoken softly and with the tone of someone who thought they had been hard done by.
She listened attentively as Zane started to talk about Miami and the things that he had done there. Of course Cordelia had been out of Sunnydale plenty of times throughout her small live so far. Her parents particularly her mother insisting on abandoning the town for at least a month of the summer every year. She also noted the sarcastic tone he used when talking about the great things that could be done in Sunnydale. Had she of been any less skilled in the art of sarcasm she might have been insulted, but as it was she knew how to tell the difference between someone being sarcastic, and someone who was purposely directing their sarcasm at her. “You should come and meet us at the Bronze sometime… It’s in the cool part of town.” She laughed a little at this point clearly amused by what she was about to say “Well actually it’s the only cool club in town.”
She grinned at his next question, finally someone new who she could introduce all the sights to. “Well as I said there is the Bronze. It’s pretty cool and the security guards aren’t too bad about I.D. Of course that also means you may spot an unwanted element there…” At this point her attention turned to a group of geeks sitting at the opposite end of the Quad to illustrate her point. “But thankfully they know their place and tend to stay out of the way.” She sat in silence for a few moments “And of course college parties are always great… Although I don’t usually see too many people from here when I attend those.” She decided that would be enough for now and that by mentioning she was already in with the college kids, even if that was a bit of an exaggeration… She had only been to like two parties in all honesty. It would show just how important she was!

It was really good to know that Cordelia saw him as someone important from first glance. Maybe it was the fact that he was very well dressed, his skin was flawless in complexion, or even how he held himself. He didn't know, but he assumed it could even be a combination of the three. He could also determine, not only from first glance but from speaking to her, that Cordelia was one of the more popular and high-class students that attended this school. It was good to have found someone so fitting for him so quickly. She had the looks, charisma and held herself extremely well. That made him feel slightly better about his experience at this school. Only slightly. After all, despite seemingly making a friend already, he still had a long road ahead of him in order to enjoy this school. He was currently in the mindset of just satisfactorily completing the subjects, and moving on to bigger and better things, like he should of, to begin with. Though there was still Sunnydale UC to deal with for hopefully no more than a year. Great.
Smiling softly, he nodded towards Cordelia. There was a lot lacking in this place, but it was good to see that Cordelia was someone sensible and wasn't letting this town bring her down and hold her back from becoming something great. He admired that in people, he really did. "Don't even get me started," he replied, now smirking towards her in a friendly manner. It wasn't long after that he had been invited to the 'Bronze' by Cordelia. He wasn't completely sure what the Bronze was, but for someone of social standing like Cordelia to invite him somewhere, it meant it was somewhere good. Or at least good for Sunnydale standards. That also meant that he had to respectfully accept the invitation. Not only because there was nothing else he could see himself doing in this rugged down, but because it was an opportunity to befriend Cordelia further, and even meet her other friends, who were likely to be in her standing. It was the perfect way for him to get a name in this town, and he wasn't going to miss it for anything. Even if he got bombarded with homework or found out that he needed a heart transplant. That could easily wait, obviously.
He smiled, nodded his head, the smile growing thicker. "I'd love to come, thank you. If it is the only decent place in this town, then I had better become acquainted with it soon." Very soon, in actuality. "How is tonight for you? Other than boring homework, haven't really got anything exciting planned. Its quite depressing, actually. I would always have something on, no matter what time of the day." He chuckled softly. Miami was full of flavour and intensity, and there was rarely a dull moment in that city.
He paid more attention at the mention of college parties. Hey. Was that actually something worthwhile in Sunnydale? He could definantly have to find out about these. "College parties? Sounds fun. I'm going to college currently. Well just started there, actually. I'll have to check them out." He smiled once again. Hopefully Cordelia had some knowledge about these types of parties, or at least something insightful. He was feeling rather compelled to learn about these. Anything for some excitement in this town.
